This idea has been taking shape for quite some time. Brett and I have talked about it for years, imagining a place where the stories of everyday LGBTQ+ people could be preserved, celebrated, and shared. As Pride Month 2026 begins, it feels like the perfect time to introduce Mansion-Men to the world.
Our mission is simple: to tell the stories of ordinary Queer Americans living extraordinary lives.
We often hear about the trailblazers, activists, entertainers, and public figures who have helped shape our community, and rightly so. Their contributions deserve recognition and celebration. Yet beyond the headlines are countless individuals whose lives are equally meaningful. They are our neighbors, friends, family members, business owners, volunteers, artists, caregivers, veterans, teachers, and community leaders. They may never become household names, but their stories matter.
Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of knowing many such people. Their journeys have been filled with courage, perseverance, love, heartbreak, triumph, and joy. They have quietly built families, strengthened communities, supported one another, and helped create the world we live in today. Too often, those stories are never recorded, and when they are lost, a piece of our collective history disappears with them.
Through Mansion-Men, we hope to create a place where those stories can be captured and preserved. We want to celebrate not only who we are as individuals, but also the experiences that connect us as a community. By sharing our journeys, we create a living record for future generations, one that reflects the richness, diversity, and humanity of LGBTQ+ life.
Our hope is that these stories will continue to inspire, educate, and connect people long after we are gone. In many ways, this site is about legacy. It is about ensuring that the lives we have lived, the lessons we have learned, and the memories we have created will endure beyond our time on this earth.
